What are Cords made from?
Cords can be either 100% Cotton, Recycled Cotton or Jute, or a blend of these core fibers with other fibers, such as Wool, Nylon, Linen or Polyester.
What Colours are there?
On our website we separate between natural cords (usually a 100% cotton) and the colour cords (100% cotton or a cotton/viscose blend)
What types of Cords are there?
There are 4 basic types of cords, each of them are visually different with their own tension or tightness: Rope, Twine, String and Braid.
Ropes (Cotton Rope and Eco Rope) are the densest strongest, most tightly bound cord. This tension makes the knot more constricted, great for rainbows.
Twines (also referred to as 3-ply twines or 3-ply Ropes) are more loosely bound than ropes they are usually 3 ply strands. These are the recommended cords for those of us that are just starting out.
Strings or single ply cords are the loosest cord . We recommend strings for crafters that are used to creating neat consistent knots.
A
Braided Cord is fiber that has been braided or platted. Braided Cords have an ideal tension for macramé knotting.
